I am currently able to offer the following services (subject to prior commitments):
£30 per hour to include review of client’s own research and recommending research strategy; undertaking research both online and in situ at appropriate record offices and archives; writing full report of sources consulted, appropriate findings and suggestions for future research. Travel costs and other expenses such as purchase of certificates or copy documents are billed at cost.
My central location means that I am ideally situated for visiting any of the record offices and archives within the West Midlands including Birmingham, the Black Country, Warwick, Worcester and Stafford/Lichfield. I also visit the National Archives and am a member of the British Library.

Training and support for Community Heritage Groups
I can provide bespoke training for community heritage groups on many aspects of historial research including use of local archives, research using online newspapers and use of online genealogical resources (many of which are also essential for local history research). I am or have been involved as project co-ordinator on several local heritage projects including the Birmingham Children of War project with the Friends of Birmingham Archives and Heritage (FoBAH), Stories from the Stones with the Moseley Churchyard Heritage and Access Project and Birmingham Friends of the Earth: 4 decades at the Warehouse. I am a member of the People’s Heritage Co-operative and regularly work with other members with complementary skills including oral and video history recording and public engagement.
